| The results obtained are semi-quantitative, are predictive of hormonal response, and are highly reproducible. Positivity is determined by the percentage of tumor cells which show positive nuclear staining.
Positive immunohistochemical nuclear staining results for estrogen and progesterone receptors are favorable prognostic indicators and indicate potential endocrine therapy benefit.
