INTERPRETIVE DATA
The epidermal Antibodies test will detect and differentiate between antibodies to intracellular substance (anti-ICS) and antibodies to basement membrane (anti-BM). Antibodies to the intracellular substance (ICS) of the epidermis is detectable in 90% of cases of Pemphigus, while antibodies to the basement membrane (BM) of the epidermis is found in 70% of Bullous Pemphigus cases. Patient's with Lydel's toxic neurolysis, extensive burns and myasthenia gravi may also demonstrate antibodies to intracellular substance.
